25 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

27 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 12, Chapter 29, is amended to add an
28 additional section to read as follows:
29 12-29-408. Prostate screening and physician consultation.
30 (a) A correctional or detention facility operated or administered by
31 the Department of Corrections shall establish a policy to offer a male inmate
32 or detainee who is:
33 (1) Fifty-five (55) years of age or older but younger than
34 seventy (70) years of age a prostate screening every two (2) years; and
35 (2) Forty (40) years of age or older but younger than fifty-five
36 (55) years of age a consultation with a physician to seek professional care

1 as to when to receive a prostate screening.
2 (b) A prostate screening or consultation with a physician under this
3 section shall be at no cost to the male inmate or detainee.
4 (c) As used in this section, "prostate screening" means a prostate-
5 specific antigen test.
6 (d) This section does not preclude the department from providing:
7 (1) Prostate screenings more frequently than one (1) time every
8 two (2) years or to age groups other than those described under subsection
9 (a) of this section;
10 (2) Consultation to an age group other than those described
11 under subsection (a) of this section; or
12 (3) Any other medical screenings or treatments.
