18 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

20 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 6, Chapter 10, Subchapter 1, is amended
21 to add an additional section to read as follows:
22 6-10-135. A Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students.
23 (a) The General Assembly finds that the students of the Natural State
24 are the state's greatest resource.
25 (b) The last Wednesday in September of each year shall be recognized
26 as "A Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students".
27 (c) The Governor shall:
28 (1) Annually proclaim the last Wednesday in September of each
29 year as "A Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students"; and
30 (2) Call upon the citizens of this state, in accordance with
31 their own faith and consciences, to pray, meditate, or otherwise reflect upon
32 the following individuals in this state:
33 (A) Students;
34 (B) Teachers;
35 (C) School administrators; and
36 (D) Schools.

1 (d) The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education shall annually
2 notify public school districts and open-enrollment public charter schools
3 regarding A Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students.
