11 TO THANK THE SPOUSES, FAMILIES, AND FRIENDS OF THE
12 MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR ONGOING
13 SUPPORT AND TO PROCLAIM THE 2021 HOUSE OF
14 REPRESENTATIVES FAMILY DAY.

19 FRIENDS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF
20 REPRESENTATIVES FOR ONGOING SUPPORT AND
21 TO PROCLAIM THE 2021 HOUSE OF
22 REPRESENTATIVES FAMILY DAY.

24 WHEREAS, membership in the House of Representatives requires support
25 and sacrifice from the spouses, families, and friends of the members,
26 especially during this exceptionally difficult time we have faced as a state
27 through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the pandemic has created a situation in which uncharted waters
30 have been traversed, requiring not only all new procedures for the House of
31 Representatives that have affected the public, the members, and the families
32 and friends of the members, but also requiring the handling of multiple
33 crises at once, with sickness in some of our homes and other extreme
34 hardships related to the pandemic; and
35
36 WHEREAS, spouses, families, and friends of members have supported

1 decisions to run for office, encouraged them throughout their campaigns, and
2 continued to cheer on their work; and
3
4 WHEREAS, members are in regular session each odd-numbered year from the
5 beginning of January until sometimes as late as May; and
6
7 WHEREAS, many members live a distance away from the Capitol, which
8 necessitates staying overnight in Little Rock for multiple days on end,
9 leaving spouses, families, and friends back home to run households and
10 businesses; and
11
12 WHEREAS, the long hours, days, and months in which the members are away
13 from home require those spouses, families, and friends to take on new or
14 additional responsibilities, manage time strategically, and adjust personal
15 and professional priorities; and without the support and help of these
16 individuals, much of the work of the members of the House of Representatives
17 could not be accomplished; and
18
19 WHEREAS, the sacrifices and contributions to the state made by spouses,
20 families, and friends are often not publicly recognized,
21
22 NOW THEREFORE,
23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
25
26 THAT the individual members of the House of Representatives publicly
27 and deeply thank our spouses, families, and friends, and enthusiastically
28 proclaim this day as House of Representatives Family Day.
