22 WHEREAS, a football game between Arkansas State University at Jonesboro
23 and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville would enable countless
24 Arkansans who have wanted such a football game to come together to watch a
25 football game of interest to the entire state; and
26
27 WHEREAS, a football game between Arkansas State University at Jonesboro
28 and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville would encourage economic
29 development in the state by promoting unity over a common athletic interest;
30 and

32 WHEREAS, encouraging an in-state football rivalry would enhance
33 intrastate collegiate athletic opportunities for student athletes in
34 Arkansas,

36 NOW THEREFORE,

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:

4 THAT beginning with the earliest possible regular season, the athletic
5 administration of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and the athletic
6 administration of Arkansas State University at Jonesboro arrange for their
7 respective National Collegiate Athletic Association varsity football teams to
8 play each other in one (1) regular-season football game at War Memorial
9 Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, taking into consideration the rules of the
10 National Collegiate Athletic Association, the contractual obligations of each
11 institution of higher education, and the availability of War Memorial
12 Stadium.
