10 IMPORTANT WORK BEING DONE TO COMBAT THIS SERIOUS
11 PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM; AND TO PROCLAIM APRIL 11,
12 2021, AS CHILDRENS ADVOCACY CENTER DAY IN ARKANSAS
13 AS PART OF NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH.

21 PROCLAIM APRIL 11, 2021, AS CHILDRENS
22 ADVOCACY CENTER DAY.

25 WHEREAS, in 2018, an estimated three hundred fifty thousand (350,000)
26 children were served by childrens advocacy centers nationwide; and
27
28 WHEREAS, in 2018, seventeen (17) childrens advocacy centers and seven
29 (7) satellite offices throughout Arkansas served an estimated six thousand
30 (6,000) child victims of abuse, providing victim advocacy and support
31 services to them and their families; and of those six thousand (6,000)
32 children, a significant number were twelve (12) years old or younger; and

34 WHEREAS, although neglect is the most common form of child
35 maltreatment, victims also suffer year after year from physical abuse, sexual
36 abuse, drug endangerment, commercial sexual exploitation, and psychological

1 maltreatment; and

3 WHEREAS, childrens advocacy centers seek to model, promote, and
4 deliver excellence in child abuse response and prevention through direct
5 service, education, collaboration, and leadership; and
6
7 WHEREAS, Children's Advocacy Centers of Arkansas is the leading
8 statewide organization supporting the multidisciplinary response to child
9 abuse; and
10
11 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to underline the growing problem of child
12 abuse and the serious impact child abuse has on the citizens of Arkansas and
13 the future generations of our state, as well as on those of the rest of the
14 nation,

16 NOW THEREFORE,
17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
19
20 THAT the House of Representatives recognize that abuse and neglect of
21 children is a significant public health problem; commend the important work
22 being done to combat this serious public health problem; and proclaim April
23 11, 2021, as Childrens Advocacy Center Day in Arkansas.

25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
26 provided to Ms. Elizabeth Pulley, Executive Director of the Childrens
27 Advocacy Centers of Arkansas, by the Chief Clerk of the House of
28 Representatives.
