22 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

24 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code 14-20-108(e), concerning dues for volunteer
25 fire departments, is amended to add an additional subdivision to read as
26 follows:
27 (3) If an attested petition is filed with the city or town
28 recorder and signed by a majority of registered voters in the volunteer fire
29 department district voting in the immediately preceding general election,
30 then the governing body of the incorporated town or city of the second class
31 by ordinance shall dispense with a special election on the levy of volunteer
32 fire department dues.
