27 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

29 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code 6-42-303(b)(3)(a), concerning ex officio
30 members serving on the Board of Visitors for the Arkansas School of
31 Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, is amended to read as follows:
32 (3)(A) In addition to appointed members of the Board of Visitors
33 for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, six (6) nine
34 (9) ex officio nonvoting members shall also serve on the Board of Visitors
35 for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts as follows:
36 (i) The Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary

1 Education;
2 (ii) The Director of the Division of Higher
3 Education;
4 (iii) The Director of the Arkansas Economic
5 Development Commission or his or her designee;
6 (iv) The Director of the Division of Arkansas
7 Heritage;
8 (v) The president of the parent association of the
9 school; and
10 (vi) The president of the student government of the
11 school;
12 (vii) The president of the Faculty and Staff
13 Governing Council of the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the
14 Arts;
15 (viii) The Chair of the Association for Alumni and
16 Friends of ASMSA, or his or her designee; and
17 (ix) The Chair of the ASMSA Foundation Fund Board of
18 Ambassadors, or his or her designee.

20 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code 6-42-305(c)(1), concerning the employment
21 of instructors at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the
22 Arts, is amended to read as follows:
23 (c)(1) Instructors shall be employed by the board of trustees and
24 shall have such rights, privileges, and obligations as the board of trustees
25 shall determine except that they shall not be eligible for tenure nor carry
26 professional rank.
