8 AN ACT CONCERNING THE PARTICIPATION OF HOMESCHOOLED
9 STUDENTS IN INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES; TO ALLOW A
10 HOMESCHOOLED STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN
11 INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES AT A PUBLIC SCHOOL OTHER
12 THAN HIS OR HER RESIDENT SCHOOL IF THE RESIDENT
13 SCHOOL DOES NOT OFFER THE INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITY;
14 TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT THAT HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS
15 BE AT SCHOOL FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME IN ORDER TO
16 PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITY; AND FOR
17 OTHER PURPOSES.

21 TO AMEND CERTAIN LAWS RELATING TO THE
22 PARTICIPATION OF HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS IN
23 INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES.

26 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

28 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code 6-15-509(c)(1)(B), concerning a
29 homeschooled student participating in interscholastic activities at a public
30 school other than the student's resident school, is amended to read as
31 follows:
32 (B)(i) A home-schooled homeschooled student may
33 participate in interscholastic activities at a public school other than the
34 home-schooled homeschooled student's resident school by mutual agreement
35 between the resident school and any other public school where the home-
36 schooled homeschooled student wishes to participate.

1 (ii) Approval by the resident school as required
2 under subdivision (c)(1)(B)(i) of this section is not required if the
3 interscholastic activity in which the homeschooled student intends to
4 participate is not offered by the resident school.

6 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code 6-15-509(g), concerning a homeschooled
7 student participating in interscholastic activities at a public school, is
8 amended to read as follows:
9 (g) A home-schooled homeschooled student who participates in an
10 interscholastic activity may be:
11 (1) Required by the public school district superintendent to be
12 at school not more than only one (1) period per school day when participation
13 in the interscholastic activity in which he or she participates does not require
14 the student to be at the public school one (1) or more periods per school day;
15 and
16 (2) Transported by the resident school district to and from
17 interscholastic activities as the resident school district transports other
18 students who are enrolled in the resident school.

20 SECTION 3. Arkansas Code 6-15-509, concerning participation of home-
21 schooled students in interscholastic activities, is amended to add an
22 additional subsection to read as follows:
23 (j) An entity that is not statutorily created shall not impose
24 additional criteria or requirements on a homeschooled student to participate
25 in an interscholastic activity beyond what is provided by this section.
