19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

21 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code Title 6, Chapter 82, is amended to add an
22 additional subchapter to read as follows:
23 Subchapter 21 Arkansas Foresters for the Future Scholarship Program Act of
24 2021

26 6-82-2101. Title.
27 This subchapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Arkansas
28 Foresters for the Future Scholarship Program Act of 2021".

30 6-82-2102. Establishment.
31 There is created and established a program to be known as the "Arkansas
32 Foresters for the Future Scholarship Program".

34 6-82-2103. Eligibility.
35 (a) An individual is eligible for an Arkansas Foresters for the Future
36 Scholarship under this subchapter if the individual has enrolled:

1 (1) As a full-time first-time freshman in a state-supported
2 institution of higher education; and
3 (2) In a forestry program of study that is accredited by the
4 Society of American Foresters and is within the state-supported institution
5 of higher education in which the individual is enrolled.
6 (b)(1) To be considered as a recipient of the Arkansas Foresters for
7 the Future Scholarship under this subchapter, an individual shall submit:
8 (A) An approved application; and
9 (B) A high school transcript.
10 (2) The application to be submitted by individuals under
11 subdivision (b)(1)(A) of this section shall be created and approved by the
12 Department of Agriculture, Forestry Division.
13 (3) The division may select individuals who have submitted the
14 required application materials under subdivision (b)(1) of this section for
15 interviews before choosing the recipient of the Arkansas Foresters for the
16 Future Scholarship under this subchapter.
17 (c) To maintain eligibility for an Arkansas Foresters for the Future
18 Scholarship under this subchapter, a recipient shall maintain a full-time
19 status as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in the forestry program of
20 study within the state-supported institution of higher education in which the
21 individual is enrolled.

23 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code Title 19, Chapter 5, Subchapter 12, is
24 amended to add an additional section to read as follows:
25 19-5-1269. Arkansas Foresters for the Future Scholarship Fund.
26 (a) There is created on the books of the Treasurer of State, the
27 Auditor of State, and the Chief Fiscal Officer of the State a miscellaneous
28 fund to be known as the Arkansas Foresters for the Future Scholarship Fund.
29 (b) The Arkansas Foresters for the Future Scholarship Fund shall
30 consist of:
31 (1) Moneys received and deposited into the State Forestry Fund
32 under 15-31-108 that are equal to the cost of the Arkansas Foresters for
33 the Future Scholarship each academic semester; and
34 (2) Special revenue funds.
35 (c) The Arkansas Foresters for the Future Scholarship Fund shall be
36 administered by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry Division, as provided

2 6-82-2101 et seq., and as provided by any other relevant provisions of law.
