17 COMPLETING AN INVESTIGATION OF SUSPECTED
18 ADULT MALTREATMENT OR LONG-TERM CARE
19 FACILITY RESIDENT MALTREATMENT.

22 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

24 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code 12-12-1711(b)(1), concerning procedures for
25 the Department of Human Services' investigation of suspected adult
26 maltreatment or long-term care facility resident maltreatment, is amended to
27 read as follows:
28 (b)(1)(A) The investigation shall be completed and an investigative
29 determination entered within sixty (60) days:
30 (i) Ninety (90) days for an allegation of
31 exploitation; or
32 (ii) Sixty (60) days for any other type of adult
33 maltreatment allegation.
34 (B) The department may extend an investigation for up to
35 an additional forty-five (45) days if the department is unable to complete
36 the investigation or written investigative report due to untimely or

1 uncooperative records, interviews, or information being provided by a source
2 necessary for the investigation.
