8 TO COMMEND THE WORK OF MR. JOE WILSON AND OTHER
9 SUPPORTERS AND TO SUPPORT STEAKS FOR SHEEPDOGS.

18 WHEREAS, Mr. Joe Wilson of Gravette, Arkansas, is president of Steaks
19 for Sheepdogs, an organization designed to foster a sense of community and
20 support first responders that includes members from different states; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the title of the organization is derived from the nickname
23 "sheepdogs" that police officers are given because the officers keep watch
24 over civilians like a sheepdog keeps watch over a herd; and
25
26 WHEREAS, Mr. Wilson and the organization demonstrate support for first
27 responders by hosting steak dinners and feeding police officers,
28 firefighters, and emergency medical technicians more than thirty thousand
29 (30,000) ribeye steaks since the inception of the organization; and

31 WHEREAS, Steaks for Sheepdogs has recently hosted dinners in five (5)
32 different cities over the course of a month, including Pine Bluff, Arkansas,
33 Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma; and
34
35 WHEREAS, supporter Bill Bond said, "Just to get them in here...out of
36 the heat to enjoy a ribeye steak dinner, cooked by some of the best cooks in

1 the country...when they leave, they all got a smile on their face."; and

3 WHEREAS, organizers state the mission is to recognize first responders
4 who do not often get the appreciation they deserve and to create communities
5 throughout the United States that are willing to work together, not be so
6 divisive, and show respect for first responders,

8 NOW THEREFORE,
9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
10 STATE OF ARKANSAS:

12 THAT the Senate commend the work of Mr. Joe Wilson and other organizers
13 and support the mission of Steaks for Sheepdogs.
14
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be
16 transmitted to Mr. Joe Wilson by the Secretary of the Senate.
