Gabe Hixenbaugh, originally from Alabaster, Alabama, has been honored with high commendations and congratulations for winning the NCAA Division II 133-pound Wrestling National Championship. Representing the University of Montevallo, Hixenbaugh achieved this milestone on March 16, 2024, at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas. His victory marks him as the first-ever National Champion in any sport for Montevallo in Division II, capping off the wrestling program's inaugural season. Hixenbaugh's final match against the defending champion, Gavin Quiocho of Glenville State, concluded with a 4-1 decision win, securing the National Title.

Hixenbaugh's remarkable season ended with an undefeated record of 31-0, including 14 victories over ranked opponents, earning him a spot on the All-American team. His journey to the championship included a series of impressive wins: a technical fall in the first round, a major decision in the quarterfinals, a last-second decision win in the semifinals, and a decision win in the finals. Prior to joining Montevallo, Hixenbaugh had a successful wrestling career at Thompson High School and Campbell University.
