Miss Belle Casey, a junior at Oak Mountain High School and titleholder of Miss Historic Springville's Teen and Miss Shelby County's Outstanding Teen 2023, is recognized for her dedication to raising awareness and support for the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Over the past three years, she has raised over $5,000 for the cause through various initiatives, including participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS, hosting Twirl Away ALS Baton Camps, and collaborating with the Birmingham Squadron Basketball Team to donate a portion of ticket sales to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter.

Belle Casey's advocacy is inspired by her cousin, who has been battling ALS for over a decade and remains positive despite being wheelchair-bound. As a competitive baton twirler, Casey aims to expand her Twirl Away ALS baton camp on a state and national level to increase awareness and funds for ALS research and encourage volunteerism. The Alabama House of Representatives honors Belle Casey with this resolution, expressing deep admiration and appreciation for her efforts to combat ALS and extending best wishes for her future endeavors.
