4 SJR___ COMMENDING MR. JEFF NORRIS FOR OUTSTANDING
5 PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT.

7 WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
8 are proudly presented to Mr. Jeff Norris for outstanding
9 professional achievement on the occasion of his being named
10 Middle School Teacher of the Year; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Norris is in his 18th year in education
12 having been a teacher, assistant principal, and principal
13 during his tenure; and
14 WHEREAS, his co-workers describe him as an
15 innovative teacher, adding that his class is fun but also
16 pushes the children to do their best; he expects a lot from
17 them but loves them at the same time; Mr. Norris has the
18 unique ability to tap into what the students love, and to
19 make them excited about learning; students describe Mr.
20 Norris as caring and kind and someone they will always
21 remember; and
22 WHEREAS, Oak Mountain Middle School Principal Larry
23 Haynes described Mr. Norris as one of the more versatile
24 teachers he has seen, enthusiastic and energetic; and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Norris' classrooms are described as
26 being full of action every day, having great lessons, and
27 being an everchanging environment; es on every now and then,
28 it goes on all the time; he is constantly challenging the

29 students while they are learning; and
30 WHEREAS, Mr. Norris quoted Todd Whitaker, who said,
31 "The best thing about teaching is that it matters, and the
32 hardest thing about teaching is that it matters every day";
33 to hear the kind words from his students and colleagues was
34 eye-opening and humbling for Mr. Norris; and
35 WHEREAS, through the years, Mr. Norris has earned
36 immense respect for his tireless dedication and exceptional
37 abilities, and is truly deserving of special recognition;
38 now therefore,
39 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
40 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mr. Jeff Norris is highly
41 honored and commended, and this resolution is offered to him
42 in deepest admiration and appreciation, along with sincere
43 best wishes for all future endeavors.
