Under existing law, an individual performing the duties of a public safety telecommunicator must be certified by the Statewide 911 Board. Individuals hired for such positions must be certified within 180 days. This bill would provide that an individual serving as a public safety telecommunicator must be certified by the Statewide 911 Board only if required by the sheriff of the county or the chief of police of the local municipality, as applicable.
