This bill relates to Marshall County in Alabama and creates a service of process fee to be charged for service of process by a sheriff of documents in the District Court, Circuit Court, Family Court, and Juvenile Court of the county. It also creates a service of process fee to be charged for service of process in actions instituted outside the state. The fees collected will be distributed to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund in the county. The bill specifies that the fees may not be imposed or collected if the court finds that payment of the fee will create a substantial hardship, and certain individuals and entities are exempt from paying the fees. The bill will become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
