This bill relates to Mobile County and establishes qualifications for the office of sheriff. It requires that individuals running for sheriff or appointed to serve as sheriff meet certain qualifications, including being a citizen of the United States, a resident of the county for at least one year, having the qualifications of an elector, having a high school diploma or GED equivalent, being 25 years of age or older, and having three or more years of prior service as a sworn law enforcement officer. The bill also requires the sheriff to attend a minimum of 12 hours of executive level continuing education each year. This bill only applies to Mobile County.
