This bill amends Section 2 of Act 634 of the 1951 Regular Session, as amended by Act 630 of the 1967 Regular Session, relating to zoning regulations in counties with a population of 400,000 or more. The bill provides remedies and penalties for violations of zoning regulations. The bill amends the language regarding violations and penalties, specifying that it is unlawful to violate any regulation or provision of a zoning resolution enacted by the county. Violators will be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor and may be fined or imprisoned. The bill also allows the County Building Commissioner to give a written notice or citation to violators before any criminal prosecution takes place. The Building Commissioner may also institute legal actions to prevent or remove unlawful construction or use of buildings or land. The bill also allows the Building Commissioner to intervene in any legal proceedings involving violations of zoning regulations. The bill becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor or its becoming law.
