Under existing law, various occupational licensing boards are responsible for regulating different professions and the licensees determined by the boards to be qualified to practice within those professions. This bill would establish the Occupational Licensing Boards Division within the office of the Secretary of State as a centralized entity to regulate and provide oversight to all occupational licensing boards operating in the state, with certain exceptions. This bill would provide for the appointment of an executive director, deputy directors, and other staff for the division, including investigators, and would provide uniformity for certain provisions relating to licensing, fees, board membership, funding, and expenses.
