8 MOURNING THE DEATH OF MRS. LELLA CLAYTON BROMBERG.

10 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
11 death on May 10, 2021, of Mrs. Lella Clayton Bromberg of
12 Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 88; and
13 WHEREAS, her passing leaves a void in the lives of
14 her loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
15 where she was highly regarded; and
16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bromberg was born on December 12,
17 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles
18 Trueheart Clayton; and
19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bromberg met the love of her life,
20 Frank Hardy Bromberg, Jr., at Ramsay High School; following
21 her high school graduation, she attended The University of
22 Alabama, where she received The Alumni Student Award and was a
23 member of the Kappa Delta Sorority; and
24 WHEREAS, the Cathedral Church of the Advent was an
25 essential part of Mrs. Bromberg's life, where she found great
26 joy in serving as the first female Junior Warden, as the
27 President of Women of the Church, as a member of the Vestry

1 and of the Stewardship Committee, and as a Lenten Lunch
2 waitress for many years; and
3 WHEREAS, very active in her community, Mrs. Bromberg
4 was the Founding President of The University of Alabama's
5 O'Neal Cancer Center Advisory Board and of the Board of
6 Visitors of the School of Nursing at The University of Alabama
7 at Birmingham; President of the Junior League of Birmingham;
8 President of the Linly Heflin Unit, President of the Joy
9 Garden Tour in Cashiers, North Carolina; President of the
10 Birmingham Chapter of Colonial Dames; the Regent of the
11 Highland Book Club; and a member of the Board of Directors of
12 the Friends of Alabama Heritage, the Women's Committee of 100
13 for Birmingham, the Bookmarkers Book Club, the Grapevine
14 Garden Club, the Birmingham Country Club, and Harlequins,
15 Maskers, and Vanities; and
16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bromberg's hobbies included supporting
17 Alabama athletics, studying her Bible, needlepointing, playing
18 bridge, reading, knitting, and gardening; and
19 WHEREAS, a role model and a friend to many, Mrs.
20 Bromberg was fun-loving, strong-willed, quick-witted, funny,
21 and spirited; and
22 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her husband of
23 almost 65 years, Frank Hardy Bromberg, Jr.; and her
24 grandchildren, Virginia McMillian Bromberg, Elizabeth Bromberg
25 Wilbanks, and Zoe Proferis Bromberg; and
26 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bromberg is survived by her children,
27 Frank Hardy Bromberg, III, Charles Clayton Bromberg (Christy),

1 Frederick "Ricky" Wilkinson Bromberg (Nancy), and Lella
2 Bromberg Wilbanks (Bruce); grandchildren, Charles Clayton
3 Bromberg, Jr. (Robin), Frederick "Wil" Wilkinson Bromberg, Jr.
4 (Katie), Anne Hayden Orme (Michael), Margaret "Mallie" Russell
5 Bromberg, Frances Hardy Bromberg, Bruce "Bo" Ogletree
6 Wilbanks, Jr., and Alice Kirkland Wilbanks;
7 great-grandchildren, Zoe Dylan Bromberg, Charles "Charlie"
8 Clayton Bromberg, III, and William Hardy Orme; brother,
9 Charles Clayton, Jr. (Louise); sister, Trueheart Carl
10 (Morton); and a host of nieces and nephews; and
11 WHEREAS, although her presence will be greatly
12 missed, the memory of Mrs. Bromberg will be cherished in the
13 hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore,
14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
15 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mrs. Lella
16 Clayton Bromberg is recorded with deep sadness, and this
17 resolution is offered in tribute to her life, along with
18 heartfelt sympathy to her family, whose grief is shared by
19 many.
