5 COMMENDING THE LEGENDARY BIRMINGHAM BAND, THREE ON A
6 STRING.

8 WHEREAS, the legendary Birmingham-based band, Three
9 on a String, has continued its successful musical journey
10 without let-up for 50 years and soon will perform its 50th
11 Anniversary Celebration Show; and
12 WHEREAS, band members, leader Jerry Ryan, Bobby
13 Horton, Brad Ryan, and Andy Meginniss, have gladdened the
14 hearts of hundreds of thousands of Alabamians with their
15 unique act of music, comedy, and entertainment; and
16 WHEREAS, Three on a String has performed over 20,000
17 shows, has touched the hearts of the citizens of Alabama and
18 of many others all over the world, has performed on nationwide
19 television and in Canada, and has traveled a half-million
20 miles; and
21 WHEREAS, the excellence of Three on a String
22 associate band members has been recognized by opening for
23 President George H.W. Bush, President Ronald Reagan, many
24 Governors of Alabama, actor Bill Cosby, entertainer Red
25 Skelton, and many other luminaries; being joined on stage by

1 Odetta, the soul song of the Civil Rights Movement; appearing
2 in Nashville venues, such as the Ralph Emery Show; and being
3 recommended by Ray Stevens; and
4 WHEREAS, Three on a String helped originate
5 bluegrass festivals throughout Alabama, and is an original
6 member of the Alabama Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame; and
7 WHEREAS, Three on a String has performed on a
8 regular basis for Captains of Industry and for members of the
9 Alabama Legislature; now therefore,
10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
11 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we hereby recognize and
12 applaud the efforts and contributions put forth by the South's
13 longest-lived musical group, Three on a String, and we
14 recommend that this outstanding group should be considered for
15 induction into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
