5 COMMENDING THE ALABAMA FARMERS FEDERATION ON ITS
6 100TH BIRTHDAY AND CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.

8 WHEREAS, the Alabama Farmers Federation was founded
9 in 1921 and is celebrating its centennial anniversary for 100
10 years of service as the voice of Alabama farmers; and
11 WHEREAS, the Alabama Farmers Federation was created
12 by farmers and is led by farmers and dedicated to serving
13 Alabama farmers through the promotion of the economic, social,
14 and educational interests of Alabama; and
15 WHEREAS, the leaders of the Alabama Farmers
16 Federation founded Alfa Insurance in 1946 to provide fire
17 protection for rural residents, including Alabama farmers;
18 currently, Alfa Insurance and its affiliates have grown and
19 now serve more than one million customers in 11 states; and
20 WHEREAS, with just 75,000 members in 1960, the
21 Alabama Farmers Federation has grown to become the state's
22 largest farm organization with more than 360,000 members; and
23 WHEREAS, the Alabama Farmers Federation members are
24 organized through 67 independent county farmers federations;
25 state and local federations implement programs to develop

1 future leaders through its Young Farmers Committee, Women's
2 Leadership Committee, 17 commodity committees, and A.L.F.A.
3 Leaders Class; these programs encourage and motivate members
4 to not only be successful farmers, but also to be active in
5 their communities and in consumer education activities; and
6 WHEREAS, the Alabama Farmers Federation also
7 provides services to Alabama residents throughout our state
8 through many community outreach programs across the state,
9 including the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation, Ag in
10 the Classroom, the Farm-City Program, scholarship programs,
11 the Alfa Cares Program, and the Alfa Foundation; now
12 therefore,
13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
14 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That this body extends sincere best
15 wishes and heartfelt congratulations to the Alabama Farmers
16 Federation on the occasion of its 100th birthday and
17 Centennial Anniversary Celebration.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this
19 resolution be made available for appropriate presentation and
20 display.
