5 COMMENDING ABIGAIL BENZ, MISS LIMESTONE COUNTY
6 SHERIFF'S RODEO QUEEN 2020.

8 WHEREAS, we take great pleasure in commending an
9 outstanding Alabama cowgirl, Abigail Benz, who has been
10 crowned to reign as Miss Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo
11 Queen 2020; and
12 WHEREAS, Abigail Benz, the 24-year-old daughter of
13 Stacy and Colonel Edward Benz III, is a graduate of Auburn
14 University, majoring in Global Studies and minoring in
15 Business and International Studies; she studied abroad in
16 Italy and Nepal during her time at Auburn University; she
17 plans to complete her MBA and attend law school and embark
18 upon a career that would combine her love of animals and her
19 passion for helping others; and
20 WHEREAS, Miss Benz fell in love with horses at an
21 early age and, upon attending her first rodeo she knew that
22 one day she wanted to be a rodeo queen; she has ridden many
23 different disciplines including, drill team, rodeo, western
24 equitation, and worked as head wrangler at Medicine Bow Lodge

1 in Medicine Bow, Wyoming; she has a passion for promoting the
2 sport of rodeo and believes that rodeo is for everyone; and
3 WHEREAS, Miss Benz' trip to Nepal enabled her to
4 devote many hours volunteering and working with children and
5 women; after witnessing the injustices faced by women and
6 children in Nepal, Miss Benz is excited to promote her
7 platform, Cowgirl Courage, to help empower women and children
8 worldwide; Cowgirl Courage is having the courage to speak up,
9 stand up, and saddle up; she believes that when we educate and
10 empower others we can overcome any situation; her role as Miss
11 Limestone County Sheriff's Rodeo Queen has allowed her the
12 opportunity to continue working with children and women,
13 teaching the sport of rodeo, and promoting Alabama's livestock
14 industry; and
15 WHEREAS, her reign as Miss Limestone County
16 Sheriff's Rodeo Queen is the culmination of a lifelong dream;
17 during the year, she represented the Limestone County
18 Sheriff's Rodeo and her beloved home state at the Miss Rodeo
19 USA Pageant, taking with her the values of the people of
20 Alabama; she was the First Runner Up, in addition to winning
21 the Speech Award, Highest Test Score, and the Fan-Favorite
22 State Shirt Award; and
23 WHEREAS, Abigail Benz is a worthy role model for all
24 young people and an outstanding ambassador for the State of
25 Alabama; now therefore,

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
2 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Miss Abigail Benz is commended
3 and congratulated upon being named Miss Limestone County
4 Sheriff's Rodeo Queen 2020, and this resolution is offered in
5 highest tribute to her along with best wishes in all future
6 endeavors.
