8 COMMENDING ALL WHO PROVIDED SERVICE AND SUPPORT FOR
9 COVID-19 TESTING AND VACCINATION DURING THE 2021 LEGISLATIVE
10 SESSION.

12 WHEREAS, it is an honor to thank and commend
13 everyone who provided service and support for COVID-19 testing
14 and vaccination during the 2021 Legislative Session; and
15 WHEREAS, affectionately referred to as "Tunnel
16 Testing," approximately 500 COVID-19 tests were administered
17 during each of the five testing sessions that took place
18 typically three weeks apart during the 2021 Legislative
19 Session; altogether, approximately 2,500 tests were
20 administered; and
21 WHEREAS, Tunnel Testing did not incur any additional
22 cost to the State of Alabama, thanks to Governor Kay Ivey
23 allowing for the use of the tunnel; the Capitol Operations
24 staff for assistance with the tunnel setup; the State Troopers
25 posted at the Capitol for easy access to the tunnel for the
26 testing staff; the Alabama Department of Public Health for
27 donating the tests; Auburn University and Reid State Technical

1 College for sending its nursing and pharmacy students to
2 administer the tests; and the State Employees' Insurance Board
3 and the State Wellness Center staff for organizing, managing,
4 and operating the testing site; and
5 WHEREAS, State House staff and legislators were also
6 provided an opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine
7 through a vaccine clinic operated by the State Wellness Center
8 and the State Employees' Insurance Board in downtown
9 Montgomery, which also did not incur any additional cost to
10 the State; in just three months' time, the vaccine was
11 administered to 10,000 state officials, state employees,
12 retirees, and their dependents; Reid State Technical College,
13 Central Alabama Community College, Auburn University at
14 Montgomery, Auburn University, and Troy University loaned
15 students to help administer the vaccine; the State Wellness
16 Center organized, managed, and operated the vaccine site, and
17 the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency posted State Troopers
18 to ensure safety and security; and
19 WHEREAS, the individuals who provided service in the
20 tunnel and at the vaccine clinic did so in addition to their
21 usual duties as assigned, which exhibited a tremendous amount
22 of extra effort; their assistance to the State of Alabama is
23 indeed greatly appreciated; now therefore,
24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
25 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That everyone who provided service
26 and support for COVID-19 testing and vaccination during the
27 2021 Legislative Session is heartily commended and honored,
