8 HONORING THE LATE SERGEANT BRAXTON POOL FOR HIS ACTS
9 OF BRAVERY DURING WORLD WAR II.

11 WHEREAS, it is a privilege to highly honor the late
12 Sergeant Braxton Pool for his acts of bravery during World War
13 II; and
14 WHEREAS, the first action that Sergeant Pool
15 participated in during World War II was in North Africa while
16 fighting against Germany's General Rommel; at one point during
17 the war, he single-handedly took out 53 Germans and three
18 machine gun crews, earning the Purple Heart; later, he was
19 killed in action at the age of 23; and
20 WHEREAS, a bee keeper and farm boy from Wedowee in
21 Randolph, County, Alabama, Sergeant Pool was the oldest of
22 five children born to Otis and Verdie Pool and was a graduate
23 of Randolph County High School; and
24 WHEREAS, deeply loved by many, Sergeant Pool will
25 continue to be remembered for his unwavering selflessness and
26 numerous acts of bravery; now therefore,

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
2 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the late Sergeant Braxton
3 Pool is highly honored, and this resolution hereby serves as a
4 tribute to him with utmost gratitude and admiration, along
5 with heartfelt sympathy to his family.
