8 HONORING MRS. ROCHELLE ROBINSON, A MEMBER OF THE
9 HERITAGE FAMILY OF BALDWIN COUNTY, ON HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

11 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
12 highly honor Mrs. Rochelle Robinson, a proud member of the
13 Heritage Family of Baldwin County, on the occasion of her
14 milestone 100th Birthday on April 23, 2021; and
15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson was born on April 23, 1921,
16 on her family's homestead in Rosinton, in Central Baldwin
17 County, Alabama; and
18 WHEREAS, her father owned a sawmill business, and
19 her family moved as the sawmill camps moved; Mrs. Robinson
20 moved around Baldwin County numerous times before she started
21 elementary school; she attended Loxley Elementary School and
22 graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1939; she then
23 attended Troy State College, where she studied education and
24 was a majorette; and
25 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson taught school in Perdido,
26 Alabama, for one year and then in Foley, Alabama, for two and
27 one-half years; while teaching in Foley, she met and fell in

1 love with Naval Pilot Gerald P. Robinson, an Ensign stationed
2 at Barrow Field; after their marriage, Mr. Robinson served as
3 a Torpedo Bomber Pilot, and he and Mrs. Robinson lived in
4 various places, including Lillian, Alabama; Martha's Vineyard:
5 Providence; Rhode Island; and Jacksonville, Florida; their
6 first child was born while Mr. Robinson was at war in the
7 Pacific; Mrs. Robinson continued her teaching career at Loxley
8 Elementary School; and
9 WHEREAS, after the war, Mr. Robinson also began a
10 career in education and eventually became the Principal at the
11 same school where Mrs. Robinson was teaching, Daphne Junior
12 High School; the Robinsons moved to D'Olive Bay, the northern
13 part of Mobile Bay in Daphne, Alabama, and reared three
14 children there; after retiring from education in 1983, they
15 enjoyed traveling to many destinations, including Europe, the
16 Mediterranean, Greece, Turkey, the Caribbean, Australia, and
17 Hawaii; in 1999, they moved to Westminster Village in Spanish
18 Fort, Alabama, where Mrs. Robinson currently resides; Mr.
19 Robinson passed away in 2007; and
20 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson has been an active member of
21 St. Paul's Episcopal Church since 1960, where she has taught
22 Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild; she still works
23 in the church's thrift shop; she has also been an active
24 member of Delta Kappa Gamma for the past 56 years, and she is
25 an active member of the Baldwin County Historical Society and
26 Lake Forrest Country Club; her other achievements include
27 being named a Founding Family of Baldwin County; square

1 dancing in Fairhope, Alabama; being a member and former
2 President of the Computer Club; and being a member of the Hall
3 Association Council; additionally, she has been a Senior
4 Olympics Competitor twice with cornhole being her specialty, a
5 recently retired member of a Line Dancing Team, and a former
6 fashion show model; and
7 WHEREAS, a woman with a kind heart who is passionate
8 about serving others, Mrs. Robinson is an inspiration to many
9 in her community and beyond; now therefore,
10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
11 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mrs. Rochelle Robinson is
12 warmly honored on her milestone 100th Birthday, and we hereby
13 wish her a very Happy Birthday and dedicate this resolution to
14 her with heartiest appreciation, admiration, and regard.
