8 CONGRATULATING PAIGE MADDEN FOR LEADING THE
9 UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA WOMEN'S SWIM TEAM TO THE FIRST NCAA
10 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN PROGRAM HISTORY.

12 WHEREAS, highest congratulations are herein proudly
13 presented to Mobile's Paige Madden for leading The University
14 of Virginia Women's Swim Team to the first NCAA National
15 Championship in program history; and
16 WHEREAS, a graduate of UMS-Wright Preparatory School
17 in Mobile, Alabama, Paige won three individual events and was
18 on a winning relay team, which earned her the title of Most
19 Valuable Swimmer of the National Championship, and she was
20 also named the ACC Swim and Dive Scholar Athlete of the Year
21 for the second consecutive year; earlier this month, she was
22 named one of the finalists for the Honda Sport Award for the
23 Best Athlete in the Country in Swimming and Diving, and she
24 also holds an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship Award; altogether,
25 she has won 13 ACC Championships in her career with the
26 Cavaliers; and

1 WHEREAS, Paige is now training for the U.S. Olympic
2 Trials, which will be held in Omaha, Nebraska, in June 2021;
3 she credits 13 years of swimming for CMSA for preparing her
4 for this big stage in her life; some of her other
5 accomplishments include being featured by WKRG News 5 during
6 her high school years and participating in the 2016 Olympic
7 Trials; Paige's former coach, Greg Davis, stated that he
8 thinks she has a great shot at making the U.S. Olympic Team in
9 June 2021; and
10 WHEREAS, Paige's diligence, talent, and commitment
11 to excellence make her an inspiration to many in her community
12 and beyond; now therefore,
13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
14 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Paige Madden is highly
15 congratulated for her victories, and we hereby dedicate this
16 resolution to her with utmost admiration, along with sincere
17 best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
