2 ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
3 HONORING MRS. ROCHELLE ROBINSON, A MEMBER OF THE
4 HERITAGE FAMILY OF BALDWIN COUNTY, ON HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.
5
6 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
7 highly honor Mrs. Rochelle Robinson, a proud member of the
8 Heritage Family of Baldwin County, on the occasion of her
9 milestone 100th Birthday on April 23, 2021; and
10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson was born on April 23, 1921,
11 on her family's homestead in Rosinton, in Central Baldwin
12 County, Alabama; and
13 WHEREAS, her father owned a sawmill business, and
14 her family moved as the sawmill camps moved; Mrs. Robinson
15 moved around Baldwin County numerous times before she started
16 elementary school; she attended Loxley Elementary School and
17 graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1939; she then
18 attended Troy State College, where she studied education and
19 was a majorette; and
20 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson taught school in Perdido,
21 Alabama, for one year and then in Foley, Alabama, for two and
22 one-half years; while teaching in Foley, she met and fell in
23 love with Naval Pilot Gerald P. Robinson, an Ensign stationed
24 at Barrow Field; after their marriage, Mr. Robinson served as
25 a Torpedo Bomber Pilot, and he and Mrs. Robinson lived in

1 various places, including Lillian, Alabama; Martha's Vineyard:
2 Providence; Rhode Island; and Jacksonville, Florida; their
3 first child was born while Mr. Robinson was at war in the
4 Pacific; Mrs. Robinson continued her teaching career at Loxley
5 Elementary School; and
6 WHEREAS, after the war, Mr. Robinson also began a
7 career in education and eventually became the Principal at the
8 same school where Mrs. Robinson was teaching, Daphne Junior
9 High School; the Robinsons moved to D'Olive Bay, the northern
10 part of Mobile Bay in Daphne, Alabama, and reared three
11 children there; after retiring from education in 1983, they
12 enjoyed traveling to many destinations, including Europe, the
13 Mediterranean, Greece, Turkey, the Caribbean, Australia, and
14 Hawaii; in 1999, they moved to Westminster Village in Spanish
15 Fort, Alabama, where Mrs. Robinson currently resides; Mr.
16 Robinson passed away in 2007; and
17 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson has been an active member of
18 St. Paul's Episcopal Church since 1960, where she has taught
19 Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild; she still works
20 in the church's thrift shop; she has also been an active
21 member of Delta Kappa Gamma for the past 56 years, and she is
22 an active member of the Baldwin County Historical Society and
23 Lake Forrest Country Club; her other achievements include
24 being named a Founding Family of Baldwin County; square
25 dancing in Fairhope, Alabama; being a member and former

1 President of the Computer Club; and being a member of the Hall
2 Association Council; additionally, she has been a Senior
3 Olympics Competitor twice with cornhole being her specialty, a
4 recently retired member of a Line Dancing Team, and a former
5 fashion show model; and
6 WHEREAS, a woman with a kind heart who is passionate
7 about serving others, Mrs. Robinson is an inspiration to many
8 in her community and beyond; now therefore,
9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
10 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mrs. Rochelle Robinson is
11 warmly honored on her milestone 100th Birthday, and we hereby
12 wish her a very Happy Birthday and dedicate this resolution to
13 her with heartiest appreciation, admiration, and regard.
