2 ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
3 MOURNING THE DEATH OF BOBBY RAY SHELLEY.
4
5 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
6 death on April 12, 2021, of Bobby Ray "Bob" Shelley, at the
7 age of 89; and
8 WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
9 his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
10 where he was highly regarded; Mr. Shelley was born on June 19,
11 1931, to Adie Shelley and Cora Stephenson Shelley; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Shelley was a resident of the Tumbleton
13 Community of Henry County, Alabama, near the City of Headland;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Shelley graduated as valedictorian of
16 the Headland High School Class of 1949; following graduation,
17 he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean
18 War as a motor pool mechanic; Mr. Shelley was one of the
19 owners and operators of Shelley's Garage; he was an active
20 member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church; and
21 WHEREAS, he is predeceased by his parents; wife,
22 Elizabeth Rosemary Shelley; daughter, Colleen Shelley Stokes;
23 sisters, Mary Lou Shelley and Kathryn "Katie" Shelley;
24 brother, Ronny Shelley; sisters-in-law, Delane Shelley and
25 Miriam Shelley; and nephew, Shane Shelley; and

1 WHEREAS, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth
2 "Kay" Griffin; son, Christopher Brian Shelley (Donna);
3 son-in-law, Thomas "Busby" Stokes; grandchildren, Tegan Stokes
4 Pearson (Jason) and Laura Stokes Gray (Jamie); five
5 great-grandchildren; brothers, O'neal Shelley, Tommy Gene
6 Shelley, Carl Shelley (Sue), and David Martin "Pete" Shelley
7 (May); several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend,
8 Don Fisher; and a host of other relatives and many friends;
9 now therefore,
10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
11 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the death of Bobby Ray "Bob"
12 Shelley, is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
13 offered in tribute to his life, along with heartfelt sympathy
14 to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
