8 COMMENDING MR. CASEY CRUMPTON FOR HIS ACT OF
9 HEROISM.
10
11 WHEREAS, it is a privilege to extend highest
12 commendations to Mr. Casey Crumpton for his act of heroism;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, a miracle was performed in Columbiana,
15 Alabama, when Mr. Crumpton saved the lives of George and Gayle
16 Nix after a tornado destroyed the couple's home; Mr. and Mrs.
17 Nix own a farm, G and G Paso Fino Farms, on Alston Farm Road
18 in Columbiana, which has been in the family for years; they
19 are also the owners of Nix Trailer Park, where their mobile
20 home was hit by a tornado that lifted it into the air and then
21 took it back down to the ground, approximately 50 yards away
22 from its foundation; and
23 WHEREAS, once the tornado passed, Mr. Crumpton left
24 his parents' basement where he had taken shelter and headed to
25 his grandparents' house, but he noticed that Mr. and Mrs.
26 Nix's mobile home was no longer present; he changed his
27 direction and ran to Nix Trailer Park, and he soon saw the
Page 1
1 destroyed mobile home in the distance; he heard someone
2 calling for help through the debris and immediately began
3 digging; he found Mr. Nix, who had broken ribs, neck
4 fractures, a severed neck artery, a punctured lung, and a
5 broken ankle; Mr. Crumpton's parents, brothers, other
6 relatives, and other residents of the city arrived and helped
7 him search through the rubble for Mrs. Nix; when she was
8 found, she had broken ribs and a broken sternum; the fallen
9 trees and debris prevented the paramedics from reaching Mr.
10 and Mrs. Nix, so Mr. Crumpton used two doors as stretchers and
11 carried the couple to the ambulance; and
12 WHEREAS, by the grace of God, Mr. Crumpton was in
13 the right place at the right time and was able to save Mr. and
14 Mrs. Nix; Mr. Crumpton's quick response, selflessness, and
15 bravery make him an incredible, inspiring hero; now therefore,
16 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
17 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mr. Casey Crumpton is highly
18 commended for his act of heroism, and we hereby dedicate this
19 resolution to him with utmost gratitude, admiration, and
20 regard.
