3 COMMENDING MR. DEAN MOOTY FOR HIS SERVICE TO MARION
4 MILITARY INSTITUTE AND FOR RECEIVING THE TRUSTEE EMERITUS
5 CERTIFICATE.

7 WHEREAS, it is an honor to extend highest
8 commendations to Mr. Dean Mooty for his dedicated service to
9 Marion Military Institute and for receiving the Trustee
10 Emeritus Certificate; and
11 WHEREAS, on January 20, 2005, Mr. Mooty became a
12 member of the Marion Military Institute (MMI) Foundation Board
13 of Trustees; on November 19, 2010, the Board voted him as
14 Chairman; under his leadership, the MMI Foundation's total
15 assets grew from $2.3 million to $8.3 million; Colonel David
16 J. Mollahan has stated, "Dean was viewed by the MMI leadership
17 to be a critical voice to the effective functioning of the MMI
18 Foundation Board, as well as the MMI Foundation support of
19 MMI. He consistently contributed an experienced and
20 well-reasoned perspective that was highly valued and
21 considered an essential component of the sustained outstanding
22 relationship between MMI and the MMI Foundation"; and
23 WHEREAS, Mr. Mooty's other accomplishments include
24 co-chairing two very successful Capital Campaigns over the
25 past 10 years that, combined, raised a total of $17,700,000 in

1 cash and pledges; being selected as Marion Military
2 Institute's Alumnus of the Year in 2015; and participating in
3 Marion Military Institute's Capstone Leadership Symposium as
4 the Distinguished Speaker in 2017 and as the Keynote Speaker
5 in 2014 and 2021; and
6 WHEREAS, on April 16, 2021, Mr. Mooty was presented
7 with the Trustee Emeritus Certificate by the Marion Military
8 Institute Foundation Board of Trustees during a parade held by
9 the Corps of Cadets; and
10 WHEREAS, a man of unwavering diligence and
11 leadership who is passionate about serving others, Mr. Mooty
12 is an inspiration and a friend to many; now therefore,
13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
14 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mr. Dean Mooty is highly
15 commended for his dedicated service to Marion Military
16 Institute and for receiving the Trustee Emeritus Certificate,
17 and this resolution hereby serves as a tribute to him with
18 heartiest appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best
19 wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
