3 HONORING MRS. JENNIFER WEST, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT
4 BUCKHORN HIGH SCHOOL AND PRINCIPAL AT RIVERTON INTERMEDIATE
5 SCHOOL, AS THE 2020 ALABAMA ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR.

7 WHEREAS, The National Association of Secondary
8 School Principals sponsors a national program to honor
9 outstanding assistant principals from across the United States
10 and from more than 45 countries; and
11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jennifer West, Assistant Principal at
12 Buckhorn High School in the Madison County School System, was
13 selected as Alabama's 2020 Assistant Principal of the Year by
14 the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals; and
15 WHEREAS, Mrs. West has served as Assistant Principal
16 at Buckhorn High School since 2016 and has served as the
17 Principal at Riverton Intermediate School since January 2020;
18 she has also served as a Special Education and Collaborative
19 Teacher since 2011 and has worked with the students and
20 teachers at Buckhorn and Riverton to increase learning; and
21 WHEREAS, Mrs. West received her Bachelor's Degree
22 from The University of Alabama, her Master of Education Degree
23 from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, and her
24 Education Specialist Degree from Samford University; and

1 WHEREAS, each year, the National Association of
2 Secondary School Principals congratulates assistant principals
3 from across the nation for their exemplary achievements by
4 recognizing them in its Assistant Principal of the Year
5 Program; and
6 WHEREAS, the Assistant Principal of the Year Program
7 honors outstanding secondary assistant principals who ensure
8 that America's students acquire a sound foundation for
9 lifelong learning and achievement, and the program annually
10 honors secondary assistant principals who have succeeded in
11 providing high-quality learning opportunities for students and
12 who have demonstrated exemplary contributions to the
13 profession; now therefore,
14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
15 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we hereby commend and
16 congratulate Mrs. Jennifer West upon the honor of being
17 selected as the 2020 Alabama Assistant Principal of the Year.
