3 EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE EFFORT TO INCREASE
4 DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
5 WORKFORCE THROUGH THE WORK OF MANUFACTURE ALABAMA'S
6 "DIVERSIFY" INITIATIVE.

8 WHEREAS, Manufacture Alabama is the only trade
9 association in the state dedicated exclusively to the
10 competitive, legislative, regulatory, and operational
11 interests and needs of manufacturers and their partner
12 industries and businesses; and
13 WHEREAS, it is the mission of Manufacture Alabama
14 "to create a business and political climate that promotes a
15 positive, competitive environment and enhances the opportunity
16 for growth of Alabama manufacturers"; and
17 WHEREAS, Manufacture Alabama represents hundreds of
18 companies that share common interests and face similar
19 competitive challenges, from the most recognized international
20 corporations, to small, family-owned operations; each one is a
21 vital component of Alabama's economy and job base; and
22 WHEREAS, Manufacture Alabama, through its
23 "Diversify" initiative, is committed to addressing diversity
24 and inclusion issues within manufacturing facilities and
25 beyond; and

1 WHEREAS, the "Diversify" initiative has been
2 established to provide resources and promote strategies to
3 achieve a culture that values diversity and inclusion as
4 evidenced by attitudes, policies, and practices; and
5 WHEREAS, the Diversify Council has been established
6 to provide leadership and guidance to the effort, and is made
7 up of some of the top manufacturing and business leaders in
8 the state who have implemented diversity and inclusion
9 policies and practices in their respective companies; now
10 therefore,
11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
12 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That this body declares its support
13 of Manufacture Alabama's "Diversify" initiative and the
14 important work and leadership of the members of the Diversify
15 Council which has been established to achieve greater
16 diversity and inclusion in the manufacturing sector, as it
17 pertains to recruitment, employment, and management
18 opportunities.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Legislature
20 declares that the diversification and inclusion of
21 manufacturing employees is not only the right thing to do, but
22 also good for business in Alabama and beyond.
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this
24 resolution be delivered to the members of the Diversify

1 Council by Manufacture Alabama so that the support of this
2 body may be known.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this
4 resolution be sent to Governor Kay Ivey so that she may know
5 of the strong sentiments of the members of the Legislature
6 concerning this issue.
