11 WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
12 are herein proudly presented to Gloria Story Dittus for
13 outstanding professional achievement; and
14 WHEREAS, Gloria Story Dittus is chair of a strategic
15 communications firm, Story Partners, headquartered in
16 Washington, D.C.; she is a trusted counselor to CEOs, members
17 of Congress, Cabinet Secretaries, Ambassadors, and leading
18 business executives providing strategic communications and
19 corporate positioning; she has brought to the business world
20 her unique expertise honed over more than 40 years of public
21 policy, communications, and political experience; her career
22 has spanned leading roles as a media and communications
23 executive for a wide range of important business, government,
24 and non-profit organizations; she has extensive strategic,
25 operational, and creative experience with the United States
26 Senate, global companies, and major industry organizations;
27 and

1 WHEREAS, a native Georgian, Gloria Story Dittus was
2 born March 20, 1956, on Tybee Island and was brought up in
3 Augusta; she learned to fish and water ski on Lake Weiss, she
4 attended Baton Camp in Troy, Alabama, at ABAC; she began her
5 career as a staff advisor in the United States Senate and has
6 held positions with Exxon Corporation and Edison Electric
7 Institute; she went to work for Donald Stewart in 1978; the
8 Alabama Power Company was her first client in 1989; she was
9 instrumental and aided in the passing of The Electric
10 Consumers Protection Act which allowed the Alabama Power
11 Company to maintain control of hydroelectric generation
12 facilities, the most cost efficient renewable power; The
13 Electric Consumers Protection Act remains one of the key
14 pieces of legislation governing the use of waterways for
15 electricity use; and
16 WHEREAS, Gloria Story Dittus founded Story Partners
17 on 2010 following the successful acquisition of Dittus
18 Communications by the global management consulting company FTI
19 Consulting; from 2005-2009, she served on FTI's senior
20 management team, while also leading major client engagements
21 for top technology, energy, and transportation companies; and
22 WHEREAS, she has worked with executive teams at some
23 of the world's most recognized brands including Alibaba,
24 Shell, HSBC, Home Depot, Dell, Intel, Microsoft, General
25 Motors, Chevron, Southern Company, British Telecom, and Clear
26 Channel, developing strategic communications and executive
27 thought leadership programs; she has worked extensively with

1 the United States nuclear power industry managing crisis
2 communications during Chernobyl and Fukushima incidents; she
3 currently advises Southern Company on strategic communications
4 surrounding the construction of the company's two nuclear
5 generating units at Plant Vogtle in Georgia; and
6 WHEREAS, she has consistently been named by
7 Washington Life Magazine to its Annual Power 100 list since
8 2001; Wired Magazine called her technology's first "Public
9 Affairs PR Maven"; she has received numerous awards including
10 multiple Silver Anvil Awards and has been recognized as Public
11 Affairs Executive of the Year, 25 Women Who Mean Business,
12 Public Affairs Agency of the Year, and Boutique Agency of the
13 Year; and
14 WHEREAS, she serves on numerous non-profit boards,
15 including Ford's Theater Board of Governors, the Shakespeare
16 Theater, the Arthur Page Society, the Public Affairs Council,
17 the Society of International Business Fellows, and the Women's
18 Foreign Policy Board; she is an active Society of
19 International Business Fellows mentor, working to teach and
20 train emerging leaders around the world; and
21 WHEREAS, she currently splits her time between
22 Washington, D.C. and Aspen; she serves on the Board of
23 Directors of Aperio Genetics, an innovative skin care company
24 where she provides marketing and communications counsel; now
25 therefore,
26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
27 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Gloria Story Dittus is highly
