8 MOURNING THE DEATH OF MR. SAM SPRUELL.

10 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
11 death on January 7, 2021, of Mr. Sam Spruell of Mount Hope,
12 Alabama, at the age of 63; and
13 WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
14 his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
15 where he was highly regarded; and
16 WHEREAS, an outstanding and dedicated businessman
17 and farmer, Mr. Spruell served as President of the Southern
18 Cotton Growers from 2004 through 2005, and he was a member of
19 the Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation, the
20 Alabama Cotton Commission, and the National Cotton Council;
21 his work positively impacted the State of Alabama; and
22 WHEREAS, Mr. Spruell was a true and sincere man of
23 God who was passionate about serving others; he was a leader
24 of the Community Clothes Closet and Ministry of Hope, and he
25 donated an entire building to The Caring Place, a charity that
26 was near and dear to his heart; and

1 WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving mother, Sue
2 Spruell; wife, Lynn Spruell; children, Jonathon Spruell and
3 Liz Rhodes; and grandchildren, Shelby, Madi, Max, Mia, and
4 Cam; and
5 WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
6 missed, the memory of Mr. Spruell will be cherished in the
7 hearts of all who knew and loved him; the legacy that he
8 created will indeed continue; now therefore,
9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
10 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Sam Spruell
11 is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered
12 in tribute to his life, along with heartfelt sympathy to his
13 family, whose grief is shared by many.
