8 SYNOPSIS: Current law provides for the establishment
9 of economic development authorities by general or
10 local law.
11 This bill would authorize an economic
12 development authority distributing monies from an
13 economic development fund established by local law
14 to expend from that fund an equal match of up to
15 five million dollars ($5,000,000) for the creation
16 of a workforce training and development center on
17 property owned by the county commission of a county
18 in which the authority operates.

24 Relating to economic development authorities; to
25 provide that an economic development authority distributing
26 monies from an economic development fund established by local
27 law may match funds for the creation of a workforce training

1 and development center on property owned by certain county
2 commissions, under certain conditions.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
4 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of
5 law to the contrary, an economic development authority
6 distributing monies from an economic development fund
7 established by local law may expend from that fund an equal
8 match of up to five million dollars ($5,000,000) for the
9 construction of a workforce training and development center on
10 property owned by the county commission of a county in which
11 the authority operates.
12 Section 2. This act shall become effective
13 immediately following its passage and approval by the
14 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
