8 COMMENDING DAVID MARCONNET FOR CREATING BAMA TRACKER
9 TO TRACK COVID-19 STATISTICS.

11 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
12 recognize and commend Harvest, Alabama, resident, David
13 Marconnet, for creating Bama Tracker, a platform that tracks
14 COVID-19 statistics; and
15 WHEREAS, Bama Tracker takes data released by the
16 Alabama Department of Public Health and repackages it in a way
17 that is easy to navigate and understand; the platform quickly
18 gained a large following on Twitter; citizens, elected
19 officials, and school systems are among Bama Tracker's
20 10,000-plus followers; a subscription service is available for
21 followers to receive a daily email that contains the COVID-19
22 statistics for that day; in January 2021, Marconnet launched
23 the third iteration of Bama Tracker with expanded data about
24 COVID-19 vaccine efforts; and
25 WHEREAS, when the Health Department first started
26 posting Alabama's COVID-19 data, Marconnet monitored the
27 website and used his experience in gaming to create the first

1 stages of what would become Bama Tracker; eventually, Bama
2 Tracker became what it is today, and the overall response has
3 been positive; and
4 WHEREAS, due to the success of Bama Tracker,
5 Marconnet has been interviewed 16 times by media bureaus, was
6 included among AL.com's Alabamians Who Made a Difference in
7 2020, and has been approached by people outside Alabama who
8 want assistance in creating similar websites for their states;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, along with managing Bama Tracker, Marconnet
11 is the Chief Technology Officer of OneTeam.net; once the
12 COVID-19 pandemic ends, he hopes to expand Bama Tracker to
13 cover various topics, such as weather trends, politics, and
14 college football; now therefore,
15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
16 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we recognize and highly
17 commend David Marconnet for creating Bama Tracker, and we
18 hereby dedicate this resolution to him with warmest gratitude,
19 admiration, and regard.
