8 MOURNING THE DEATH OF MR. PAUL REX KEETON.

10 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
11 death on January 29, 2021, of Mr. Paul Rex Keeton, at the age
12 of 86; and
13 WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
14 his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
15 where he was highly regarded; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Keeton was born on June 21, 1934, in
17 Cherokee, Alabama, to Paul and Lenise Keeton; and
18 WHEREAS, after graduating high school, Mr. Keeton
19 attended Florence State College, now The University of North
20 Alabama, in Florence, Alabama, where he earned a double
21 Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and Math; he also served in the
22 United States Army, and he was a chemist at Reynolds Metals
23 Company for 35 years before retiring; and
24 WHEREAS, a devout Christian of the Methodist faith,
25 Mr. Keeton was a member of both Cherokee First United
26 Methodist Church and Sheffield First United Methodist Church

1 for many years before becoming a member of Tuscumbia United
2 Methodist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama; and
3 WHEREAS, his interests included flying private
4 aircraft, studying history, and collecting antique cars; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Keeton was a wonderful and loving
6 husband to his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth, and he was adored
7 by his nieces and nephews; and
8 WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents;
9 brother, Howard Keeton; and sister, Yvonne Underwood; and
10 WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
11 missed, the memory of Mr. Keeton will be cherished in the
12 hearts of all who knew and loved him; now therefore,
13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
14 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Paul Rex
15 Keeton is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
16 offered in tribute to his life, along with heartfelt sympathy
17 to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
