8 MOURNING THE DEATH OF CAROL PENDER ODEN.

10 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
11 death of Mrs. Carol Pender Oden of Cullman County, on February
12 1, 2021, at the age of 78 years; her passing leaves a void in
13 the lives of her loving family, many friends, and the entire
14 community, where she was highly regarded; and
15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Oden was born on May 22, 1942, in
16 Cullman County, to Howard Pender and Venata Williams Pender;
17 she was the owner of Precious Collection Florist from 1983 to
18 the present; she was heavily involved in Eva and Hamby's
19 Chapel Community and very dedicated to Eva United Methodist
20 Church, serving in multiple leadership roles; she was a member
21 of the Eva Art Guild, Republican Women, and the Alabama Silver
22 Haired Legislative Body; she was a North Central Alabama
23 Regional Council of Governments representative, and a delegate
24 for the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 30
25 years; she taught multiple classes in crafts, cake decorating,
26 and flower arrragements; she served for Eva Frontier Days and

1 was a community leader, serving and helping in many
2 situations; and
3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Oden is predeceased by her parents;
4 and her husband, Neville Arrites Oden; son, Jerome Oden;
5 son-in-law, Rickie Hill; sister, Mary Ann Pender; and Aunt,
6 Elizabeth Williams; her survivors include her sons, Jeremy
7 Oden (Samantha), Jeffery Oden, and Jonathan Oden (Sandra);
8 daughter, Juanita Oden Hill; brothers, Glenn Pender and Doug
9 Pender; grandchildren, Zach Oden, Gennia Wilhite (Bobby),
10 Belinda McCurrey (Kevin), Jeffery Oden, Nicholas Oden, Ariel
11 Welton (Toby), Amber Hill, Brandon Lowe (Mike), Savannah Hill,
12 Gabriel Hill, and Anika Oden; several great-grandchildren and
13 a host of other relatives and many friends; although her
14 presence will be greatly missed, the memories of her will be
15 cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her; now
16 therefore,
17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
18 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mrs. Carol
19 Pender Oden is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution
20 is offered in tribute to her life and with heartfelt sympathy
21 to her family.
