2 ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
3 COMMENDING MR. J. FREDERICK JOHNSON FOR BEING
4 ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF THE RURAL BROADBAND ASSOCIATION.

6 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
7 extend highest commendations to Mr. J. Frederick "Fred"
8 Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Farmers
9 Telecommunications Cooperative in Rainsville, Alabama, for
10 being elected Chairman of the Rural Broadband Association; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson, a native of Mentone, Alabama,
12 joined the Farmers Telecommunications Cooperative in 1993 as
13 its Chief Financial Officer and has been serving as its Chief
14 Executive Officer since 2002; the Farmers Telecommunications
15 Cooperative is Alabama's largest member-owned
16 telecommunications provider; Mr. Johnson's career in the
17 fields of public accounting, rural electric distribution, and
18 telecommunications spans over 38 years; and
19 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's other achievements include,
20 but are not limited to, recently concluding eight years of
21 service as a public member of the Commission on Accreditation
22 of the Association for Biblical Higher Education; writing a
23 bi-monthly column for his organization's magazine, "Connected
24 Online"; and writing for other industry publications on
25 numerous issues; having published articles in two professional

1 journals on the application of general cost of capital theory
2 to the cooperatively owned business environment; holding both
3 a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts
4 Degree in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan
5 University in Central, South Carolina; holding a Master of
6 Business Administration Degree from The University of
7 Tennessee at Chattanooga; being a Certified Public Accountant
8 since 1984; and being a member of the American Institute of
9 Certified Public Accountants, the Alabama Society of Certified
10 Public Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants
11 for Cooperatives; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson and his wife, Susan Millwood
13 Johnson, have three children, Phillip, Paige, and Peyton; a
14 daughter-in-law, Page; two sons-in-law, Marcus and Daniel; and
15 four grandchildren, Parker, Quinn, Tucker, and Bo; Mr. and
16 Mrs. Johnson attend Broadway Baptist Church, where they are
17 actively involved in the church's ministries; and
18 WHEREAS, a man of unwavering diligence, Mr. Johnson
19 inspires many; now therefore,
20 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
21 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mr. J. Frederick "Fred"
22 Johnson is highly commended for being elected Chairman of the
23 Rural Broadband Association, and we hereby dedicate this
24 resolution to him with utmost admiration, along with sincere
25 best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
