3 HONORING MRS. VANESSA K. MIDGETT FOR 38 YEARS OF
4 SERVICE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY CIVILIAN HUMAN RESOURCES
5 AGENCY.

7 WHEREAS, with great pride and very special pleasure,
8 we highly honor Mrs. Vanessa K. Midgett for 38 years and six
9 months of committed service to the Department of the Army
10 Civilian Human Resources Agency; and
11 WHEREAS, 38 years and six months ago, Mrs. Midgett
12 began her career in federal service as a Department of the
13 Army Civilian Human Resources Intern; in November 2010, she
14 was appointed to serve as Director of the Redstone Arsenal
15 Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, making history as the
16 first woman to serve in this position; on January 28, 2021,
17 she retired after nearly four decades of diligent work and
18 great achievements; some of her responsibilities over the
19 years included advancing the career program competencies
20 within the Army's Human Resources civilian core and helping
21 develop the Department of Defense Intelligence Personnel
22 System and the current framework for the Human Resources
23 Program Department of Defense Army Acquisition Demonstration
24 Personnel System; and

1 WHEREAS, a woman of steadfast faith who is very
2 passionate about serving the Lord, Mrs. Midgett was baptized
3 into the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (CPCA)
4 faith at the age of 10, and she currently holds several
5 positions within her church; also, she is a member of the
6 Huntsville Presbytery Committee on Ministry; serves as a
7 training facilitator within the Huntsville Presbytery, where
8 she provides instruction and training on doctrinal subjects
9 and Leadership Development; served as the Stated Clerk of the
10 Alabama Synod from 2011 to 2018; is a former member of the
11 CPCA General Assembly Board of Judiciary; was appointed as the
12 Administrative Director and Stated Clerk of the Denomination
13 in June 2020; and serves as the CPCA Representative on the
14 Memphis Theological Seminary (MTS) Trustee Board, where she
15 was recently elected as the Vice Moderator of the MTS Trustee
16 Board; and
17 WHEREAS, Mrs. Midgett holds a Bachelor of Arts
18 Degree in Political Science from The University of Alabama in
19 Huntsville, is a 1991 graduate of the Army Material Command
20 Leadership Development Program, and is a 1995 graduate of the
21 Army Management Staff College; in addition, she has received
22 numerous monetary and honorary awards and commendations for
23 her excellent performance of duty, her outstanding leadership,
24 and her delivery of superlative customer service; and

1 WHEREAS, she is strongly committed to community
2 service and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.;
3 her hobbies include reading, traveling, and serving as a
4 mentor to the youth and the newcomers to the Army Civilian
5 Workforce; and
6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Midgett resides in Harvest, Alabama,
7 with her husband of 23 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired)
8 Alphonso L. Midgett; and
9 WHEREAS, an incredible leader with a selfless heart,
10 Mrs. Midgett is indeed an inspiration in the lives of many;
11 now therefore,
12 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
13 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mrs. Vanessa K. Midgett is
14 highly honored for dedicating 38 years and six months to the
15 Department of the Army Civilian Human Resources Agency, and
16 this resolution hereby serves as a tribute to her with utmost
17 gratitude and admiration, along with sincere best wishes for
18 continued success during her retirement.
