3 CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF BRAVES BASEBALL LEGEND,
4 HENRY LOUIS AARON.

6 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
7 death on January 22, 2021, of Braves Baseball Legend, Henry
8 Louis "Hank" Aaron, at the age of 86; and
9 WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
10 his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
11 where he was highly regarded; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Aaron was born on February 5, 1934, in
13 Mobile, Alabama, to Herbert and Estella Aaron; and
14 WHEREAS, one of the greatest baseball players of all
15 time, Mr. Aaron was signed by the Braves in 1952, and he
16 played in the minor leagues until 1954, when he joined the
17 Major League club; some of his achievements during his
18 successful 23-year career include holding the record of 755
19 home runs, remaining baseball's all-time leader in RBIs with
20 2,297, winning the 1957 National League Most Valuable Player
21 Award, surpassing Babe Ruth's all-time total home runs of 714
22 with 715 home runs, being inducted into the National Baseball
23 Hall of Fame, and being awarded the Presidential Citizens
24 Medal by President Bill Clinton and the Presidential Medal of
25 Freedom by President George W. Bush; also, he was the Braves

1 Senior Vice President and the Assistant to the Braves
2 President, as well as an entrepreneur, owning eight Arby's
3 franchises in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and
4 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Billye;
5 children, Gaile, Hank Jr., Lary, Dorinda, and Ceci; and a host
6 of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
7 WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
8 missed, the memory of Mr. Aaron will be cherished in the
9 hearts of all who knew and loved him; as an inspiration and a
10 role model who was uniquely talented, he always worked hard
11 and had a positive attitude; he truly impacted the lives of
12 many, and his legacy will continue showing generations that
13 anyone can enjoy America's pastime; now therefore,
14 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
15 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the death of Braves Baseball
16 Legend, Henry Louis "Hank" Aaron, is recorded with deep
17 sadness, and this resolution is offered in tribute to his
18 life, along with heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose grief
19 is shared by many.
