8 SYNOPSIS: The schedule for setting bail for persons
9 charged with bailable offenses is provided for in
10 the Alabama Rules of Criminal Procedure.
11 This bill would codify the bail schedule for
12 the crime of murder.
13 This bill would also amend the bail schedule
14 for murder.

17 TO BE ENTITLED
18 AN ACT

20 Relating to criminal procedure; to codify the bail
21 schedule for the crime of murder; and to amend the bail
22 schedule for the crime of murder.
23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
24 Section 1. The bail schedule for the offense of
25 murder shall be between thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) and
26 one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000).

1 Section 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that
2 pursuant to Amendment 328 of the Constitution of Alabama of
3 1901, now appearing as Section 150 of the Official
4 Recompilation of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, as
5 amended, the Supreme Court of Alabama shall amend its rules to
6 conform with this act.
7 Section 3. This act shall become effective on the
8 first day of the third month following its passage and
9 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
