8 CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF BRAVES BASEBALL LEGEND,
9 HENRY LOUIS AARON.

11 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
12 death on January 22, 2021, of Braves Baseball Legend, Henry
13 Louis "Hank" Aaron, at the age of 86; and
14 WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
15 his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
16 where he was highly regarded; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Aaron was born on February 5, 1934, in
18 Mobile, Alabama, to Herbert and Estella Aaron; and
19 WHEREAS, Mr. Aaron started playing for the Braves
20 when he was 19, and he went on to become Atlanta's first
21 professional sports star, as well as one of the greatest
22 baseball players of all time; some of his achievements during
23 his successful 23-year career include holding the record of
24 755 home runs, remaining baseball's all-time leader in RBIs
25 with 2,297, winning the 1957 National League Most Valuable
26 Player Award, surpassing Babe Ruth's all-time total home runs
27 of 714 with 715 home runs, being inducted into the National

1 Baseball Hall of Fame, and being awarded the Presidential
2 Citizens Medal by President Bill Clinton and the Presidential
3 Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush; also, he was the
4 Braves Senior Vice President and the Assistant to the Braves
5 President, as well as an entrepreneur, owning eight Arby's
6 franchises in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and
7 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Billye;
8 children, Gaile, Hank Jr., Lary, Dorinda, and Ceci; and a host
9 of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
10 WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
11 missed, the memory of Mr. Aaron will be cherished in the
12 hearts of all who knew and loved him; as an inspiration and a
13 role model who was uniquely talented, he always worked hard
14 and had a positive attitude; he truly impacted the lives of
15 many, and his legacy will continue showing generations that
16 anyone can enjoy America's pastime; now therefore,
17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
18 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Braves Baseball
19 Legend, Henry Louis "Hank" Aaron, is recorded with deep
20 sadness, and this resolution is offered in tribute to his
21 life, along with heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose grief
22 is shared by many.
