8 SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, under the Vehicle
9 Protection Product Act, the Commissioner of
10 Insurance collects certain fees for registering
11 persons operating in this state as a warrantor of
12 vehicle protection products and is authorized to
13 conduct examinations of warrantors, administrators,
14 and other persons to enforce the act.
15 This bill would specify that the fees
16 collected by the Commissioner of Insurance for
17 registering persons operating in this state as a
18 warrantor of a vehicle protection product would be
19 deposited in the Insurance Department Fund. This
20 bill would also specify that any person examined by
21 the Commissioner of Insurance relating to the
22 Vehicle Protection Product Act would be liable for
23 the expenses of examination as provided in Section
24 27-2-25, Code of Alabama 1975.

3 Relating to the Commissioner of Insurance; to add
4 Section 8-33-14 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to specify that
5 any person being examined by the commissioner in the
6 enforcement of Chapter 33 of Title 8, Code of Alabama 1975,
7 the Vehicle Protection Product Act, would be liable for the
8 expenses of the examination; and to specify that all fees
9 collected by the commissioner in the enforcement of the
10 Vehicle Protection Product Act would be deposited in the
11 Insurance Department Fund.
12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
13 Section 1. Section 8-33-14, is added to the Code of
14 Alabama 1975, to read as follows.
15 8-33-14.
16 (a) All fees collected pursuant to this chapter
17 shall be paid into the Insurance Department Fund for the
18 enforcement of this chapter.
19 (b) Each person being examined by the commissioner
20 in the enforcement of this chapter shall be liable for and pay
21 the expenses of the examination as provided in Section
22 27-2-25.
23 Section 2. This act shall become effective
24 immediately following its passage and approval by the
25 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
