8 MOURNING THE DEATH OF MR. WILLIAM HOWELL ROGERS, SR.

10 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
11 death of William Howell "Skip" Rogers, Sr., of Moulton,
12 Alabama, on March 24, 2020, at the age of 89 years; his
13 passing leaves a void in the lives of his loving family, many
14 friends, and the entire community, where he was highly
15 regarded; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Rogers was born on March 23, 1931, in
17 Lebanon, Tennessee, to Ellis Elroy Rogers and Ann Burroughs
18 Rogers; he was a 1950 graduate of Fairfield High School; he
19 worked at Tennessee Coal and Iron until 1951, when he enlisted
20 in the Air Force during the Korean War; upon completion of his
21 military service in 1955, he returned to T.C.I.; and continued
22 to work while attending UAB and The University of Alabama,
23 where he earned a B.S. in Commerce and Business
24 Administration; and
25 WHEREAS, he earned his LL.B Law Degree (Juris
26 Doctorate) at The University of Alabama and worked at Thiokol
27 in Huntsville for several years before beginning his private

1 law practice in Moulton; he also worked for the City of
2 Moulton as City Judge and City Attorney for more than 50
3 years; he represented Champion Paper Company for 15 years;
4 also during his career, he represented the Cities of Courtland
5 and Town Creek; he loved his Lord, country, and family; he
6 enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, spending time with family
7 and friends, and watching sporting events, especially
8 University of Alabama athletics; he was a member of Victory
9 Baptist Church in Moulton; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Rogers was predeceased by his parents;
11 his survivors include one son, William Howell Rogers, Jr.; one
12 daughter, Sherri Ann Rogers Peck (Larry); three grandchildren,
13 Amy Ann Peck Stadthagen (Scott), Benjamin Allen Peck (Kelli),
14 and William Howell Rogers, III; and one great-granddaughter,
15 Collins Ann Stadthagen; and a host of other relatives and many
16 friends; although his presence will be greatly missed, the
17 memories of him will be cherished in the hearts of all who
18 knew and loved him; now therefore,
19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
20 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. William
21 Howell Rogers, Sr. is recorded with deep sadness, and this
22 resolution is offered in tribute to his life and with
23 heartfelt sympathy to his family.
