2 ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
3 NAMING THE BRIDGE AT THE 158 EXTENSION OVER THE
4 SEABURY CREEK IN MOBILE COUNTY THE MARSHALL JAMES WALTON
5 MEMORIAL BRIDGE.

7 WHEREAS, in honor of the life of Marshall James
8 Walton of Mobile, Alabama, it is appropriate to name the
9 bridge at the 158 extension over the Seabury Creek in Mobile
10 County, the Marshall James Walton Memorial Bridge; and
11 WHEREAS, he was a graduate of St. Paul's Episcopal
12 School where he was an outstanding soccer player who scored 62
13 goals during his four years there; in 2018, he was named to
14 the St. Paul's Episcopal Athletic Hall of Fame; and
15 WHEREAS, he attended the University of Mississippi
16 where he studied business administration; and
17 WHEREAS, he was employed by his father's company,
18 John G. Walton Construction; and
19 WHEREAS, there is a scholarship at the University of
20 South Alabama named to honor his memory for graduates of St.
21 Paul's Episcopal School; and
22 WHEREAS, he lost his life in an on-site construction
23 accident; he was dearly loved and is sorely missed by his
24 family and friends; now therefore,

1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
2 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That in honor of Marshall James
3 Walton, we declare that the bridge on the 158 extension over
4 the Seabury Creek in Mobile County, be named in perpetuity the
5 Marshall James Walton Memorial Bridge.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Department of
7 Transportation is requested to determine the cost of
8 fabricating and erecting the appropriate signs or markers,
9 consistent with the applicable requirements and laws, and upon
10 receiving funds from non-state sources covering the cost, to
11 erect signs or markers as provided in this resolution in
12 recognition of this memorial designation.
