FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. HB 187
2024 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
The bill calls for the division to adopt regulations to administer a program or to contract with a third party to review the
practices of certain health care providers to determine if they should be allowed an exemption from prior authorizations
for certain medical procedures.
Passage of this bill will require the division to implement regulations, including regulations that specify how the division
will provide review when there is a complaint submitted to the division from a provider regarding a utilization review
entity.
The division will absorb any costs associated with the passage of this bill within current budgeted authority.
