A BILL
FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
1 "An Act relating to payment of legislator salaries; disapproving recommendations of the
2 State Officers Compensation Commission; and providing for an effective date."
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
4 * Section 1. AS 24.10.120 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
5 (c) Upon request of a legislator, the legislator shall receive the legislator's total
6 salary for a calendar year before June 1 of that year. If the legislator, or the estate of
7 the legislator, receives the total salary, the legislator, or the estate of the legislator, is
8 indebted to the state on a pro rata basis for the time during the calendar year that the
9 legislator does not serve in office.
10 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to
11 read:
12 DISAPPROVAL OF THE STATE OFFICERS COMPENSATION COMMISSION'S
13 RECOMMENDATIONS. Notwithstanding the 60-day time limit in AS 39.23.540(d), the
14 recommendations for governor, lieutenant governor, department head, and legislator salaries

3 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
