SB 86 - Fiscal Note 1
FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. SB086
2023 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This legislation rejects the recommendations of the Alaska State Officers Compensation Commission.
The Commission recommended a 2% salary increase for each year since the last increase for the Governor, the Lt.
Governor, and department heads. Their findings concluded that the salaries of these positions have not kept pace with
inflation. The last salary increase for these positions were 2011 for the Governor and Lt. Governor and 2015 for
department heads.
If the recommendations were accepted the salaries would increase as follows:
Governor: From $145,000 to approximately $176,000
Lt. Governor: From $125,000 to approximately $140,000
Department Heads: From $141,000 to approximately $168,000
Should the Legislature reject the recommendations of the Commission, there will be no fiscal impact to the state, and
therefore, a zero fiscal note is submitted.
